Global Membrane Lab Technician I

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Global Membrane Lab Technician I executes daily operations for Kurita America, Inc., sales orders under the direction of the Manager, Membrane Services (Manager). This role tracks multiple assigned sales orders from open to close to meet production requirements for each type of service.

Job Title: Global Membrane Lab Technician I

Location: San Marcos, CA

Pay: $28-31/hour

Responsibilities:

-    Log, track, and check in incoming samples and equipment; cut and harvest membrane samples for testing
-    Collect and draft scientific data reports for manager review; organize digital files, photos, and records.
-    Perform daily tasks and facility upkeep as specified by the Manager/Membrane Analysts.
-    Communicate and coordinate with team members on required tasks.
-    Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines to ensure proper techniques are performed at the highest level.
-    Responsible for maintaining a clean lab environment. 
-    Performs routine maintenance to all equipment excluding the SEM/EDS
-    Keeps inventory of lab supplies (e.g. gloves, reagents, cleaners, hose, etc.)
-    Assist with membrane dissections and use tools like FT-IR under supervision.
-    Perform membrane/filter/foulant dissections, sample collection, and foulant analysis procedures.
-    Perform wet chemistry procedures including titration, ion chromatography, and turbidity testing.
-    Perform laboratory cleaning studies under supervision and instruction.

Qualifications:

-    0-2 years of experience of lab exposure
-    Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or other related science or equivalent work experience. [may substitute 1 year of education with 2 years of experience]
-    Effective communication, organizational and time management skills. 
-    Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and work with basic power tools (e.g., drill, saw). 
-    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and/or equivalents
-    This position is subject to logistics and/or chemical handling training, including those regulated by Federal, State, and City agencies which may include:  the Department of Transportation (D.O.T), IATA, and IMO, and specific to Class 8 Corrosive products.  Avista will provide the required training via qualified third-party entities.
